Kitchen Design and Planning

by Dorset based professional kitchen designer Graham Vandeleur-Smith

A Kitchen Planning and Design Service for clients who wish to send details of proposed project – ideal for private clients, developers and self-build projects.

Planning & design consultations

All your requirements, likes and dislikes need to be discussed and what type of look you would like to achieve within your new kitchen.

This initial consultation is vital as it allows me to get a visual picture of what you are aiming for. Appliances, type of worktop, tiling and furniture will all be discussed and advice for the installation and various services  required.

Good kitchen design starts with good communication and working with a designer rather than a salesperson helps with this process.

Further home visits and project management

All drawing work is done in Dorset, not in your home. An average home visit takes between 1-3 hours depending on the complexity of the project. I can arrange as many home visits as you require to assist in the design and completion of your kitchen project. All home visits are chargeable. I can also offer my services to project manage the installation of your kitchen if required. Although I aim to provide a full service, I am unable to provide an on-going ‘telephone helpline’.

Home visits are available throughout Britain including the Channel Islands and France.

Completed plans

Kitchen plans and drawings are posted to you (usually within 14 working days).

On payment, your kitchen design becomes your property and this allows you to take the drawings to your chosen kitchen supplier to allow them to cost the project.

Kitchen plans by post

If you’re not ready to have a home visit then you can send your room sizes together with photographs and a list of requirements which will enable me to create a design for your room. I need as much information as possible about your likes and dislikes as well as preferences towards styles and features.

All room measurements must be in metric and include room and windowsill heights, door openings and where they lead, positions of stop cock, waste outlet and gas supply, if applicable. Advice can be given to assist you with measuring your room – email or call for an example sheet that lists the required information.

How does it work?

Kitchen Planning and Design by post allows you to have a professionally designed layout plan with elevations. This service can be of great help to people who are thinking of having a new kitchen but need some ideas before visiting a kitchen showroom. The main benefit of this is you will not need to feel under any pressure. As I don’t sell the kitchens you can decide on all your needs and requirements prior to visiting a salesperson.

What do you get?

GVS Design Company will send you a scale plan, elevations and if required, artist’s impressions. It is strongly advised that a home visit is preferable to sending measurements as it allows better communication and gives me more of a feel for the project. If you are having an extension or building a new home then you can send me your architects plans.
